Information You Submit
A name, location, or other term entered into an embedded search tool is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. We do not store or log those search terms on our own systems. The provider’s privacy terms apply to its processing.
If you send an email or contact message, we keep the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share that message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Ordinary site operation may record:
- Your Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on them.
- The referring website, when provided.
- Date and time information for requests.
Cookies help measure how visitors use pages. You may block cookies through browser controls, although parts of the site or partner tools may then work differently.
Reasons We Use Data
Information is used for limited operating purposes:
- Keeping the site available and responsive.
- Sending search requests to the selected partner.
- Understanding which guides visitors use.
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems.
- Displaying advertising that may reflect interests.
Privacy on Linked Websites
Links may lead to Barry County offices, VINELink, Michigan courts, MDOC OTIS, federal locators, news sources, or commercial search providers. Once you leave this site, the destination’s own privacy notice governs its collection and use.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs under the provider’s practices, not as a Barry County government function.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be handled by:
- Search partners that process a submitted query.
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic.
- Advertising networks that deliver or assess ads.
- Law-enforcement agencies or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Security Is Best Effort
We use standard measures intended to protect information. No website, network, or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If a minor submitted information, contact us and request its deletion.
Your Information Choices
Subject to applicable law, you may ask for a copy of personal information we hold, request correction of an error, ask for deletion, or object to certain processing. These choices apply to information controlled by this site. Government agencies and outside providers handle their own records under their own policies, including Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this privacy notice when practices or legal duties change. The updated text and its new effective date will be posted on this page.
